The greatest question you will ever face is not where you will work, how much money you will make, or how long you will live.
The greatest question is this: Are you ready to meet God?
One day, every one of us will step out of this life and into eternity. God has made one way for guilty sinners to be forgiven and receive eternal life: through Jesus Christ.
Are you ready to meet God?
Salvation is not a religious hobby or a matter to postpone. It is the difference between guilt and forgiveness, judgment and mercy, spiritual death and eternal life.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23The Problem: We Have Sinned Against a Holy God
The Bible teaches that every person has sinned. Sin is not only the most shocking acts people commit. Sin includes every thought, word, desire, motive, and deed that falls short of God’s holy character and commands.
Romans 3:23 — “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
We have not loved God with our whole heart. We have not loved others as we should. We have broken His law, followed our own desires, and lived as though our lives belonged to us.
Sin separates us from God and carries a just penalty.
Romans 6:23 — “For the wages of sin is death…”
God is loving, merciful, and patient. He is also perfectly holy and just. He cannot call evil good or ignore guilt as though it does not matter. Physical death is real, final judgment is real, hell is real, and eternity is real.
We are not basically good people who need minor improvement. We are guilty sinners who cannot erase our own record or make ourselves acceptable to God.
That is the bad news.
The good news is that God did for sinners what we could never do for ourselves.
The Good News: Jesus Christ Saves Sinners
The Bible reveals one God—Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The eternal Son, the Word who was with God and was God, became truly human without ceasing to be God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”
John 1:1, 14Jesus Christ is fully God and truly man. He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, lived a completely sinless life, and perfectly obeyed the Father.
He then willingly died on the cross as the substitute for guilty sinners. He was buried, and on the third day He rose bodily from the dead.
“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
1 Corinthians 15:3–4Jesus did not die for sins of His own, because He had none. He bore the judgment sinners deserve so that everyone who truly trusts in Him can be forgiven and reconciled to God.
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21His resurrection proves that He is the Son of God, that His sacrifice was accepted, and that death has been defeated. Jesus Christ is alive, Lord of all, and the only mediator between God and men.
This is the Gospel: salvation is found not in what you can do for God, but in what God has done through Jesus Christ.
What Cannot Save You
No human work, religious ceremony, or personal effort can erase your guilt or purchase eternal life.
Ephesians 2:8–9 — “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Salvation is entirely by God’s grace. Faith does not earn salvation; faith receives the Saviour whom God has provided.
How God Says You Must Respond
Scripture summarizes the proper response as “repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Repent Toward God
Stop defending your sin and ruling your life as though you belong to yourself. Agree with God about your guilt and turn from sin, unbelief, and self-rule toward Him.
Believe the Gospel
Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for your sins, was buried, and rose again. Do not merely agree that these facts are true—rest your hope upon Him.
Trust Christ Alone
Stop trusting your goodness, religion, effort, or prayer. Receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, call upon Him for mercy, and entrust your whole life to Him.

Acts 3:19“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”
Acts 16:31Repentance and faith are not competing ways of salvation. They describe one genuine turning: away from sin and self-rule, and toward Jesus Christ as the only Saviour and rightful Lord.
You Must Be Born Again
Salvation is more than improving your habits or adopting a religious identity. Jesus said:
John 3:3 — “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
The new birth is God’s work. When a sinner turns to Christ in repentant faith, God forgives, justifies, gives eternal life, and makes that person new by the Holy Ghost.
Titus 3:5 — “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”
You cannot manufacture the new birth through emotion, self-discipline, or repeating certain words. God saves by His mercy through the finished work of Jesus Christ and gives new life by His Spirit.
Every true believer belongs to Christ and is indwelt and sealed by the Holy Ghost. The Spirit begins producing a new desire to know God, turn from sin, understand His Word, and follow Jesus Christ.
This does not mean a new believer becomes instantly perfect. It means God has begun a real work that will produce repentance, growth, and increasing obedience.
Come to Jesus Christ Today
If God is showing you your sin and drawing you toward Christ, do not postpone your response. You are not promised another day, another opportunity, or a clearer moment.
Call upon the Lord honestly. A prayer cannot save you—Jesus Christ saves. Do not trust the wording of a prayer. Trust the crucified and risen Saviour to whom you are praying.
You Can Express Your Repentance and Faith in Words Like These
“God, I know that I have sinned against You and deserve Your judgment. I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, fully God and truly man, who died for my sins, was buried, and rose again. I turn from my sin and self-rule, and I trust in Jesus Christ alone. Please forgive me, make me new by Your Holy Spirit, and help me follow Jesus as my Lord. Amen.”
Do not look back afterward and place confidence in whether you said every word perfectly or felt a certain emotion. Look to Jesus Christ and His promise. The question is whether you are truly repenting and trusting in Him.
What About Baptism?
Jesus commanded those who become His disciples to be baptized:
Matthew 28:19 — “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
Baptism does not earn salvation, add merit to Christ’s finished work, or make an unbelieving heart acceptable to God. We are saved by grace through faith.
Baptism is nevertheless commanded by Jesus and should not be treated as optional or unimportant. It is the believer’s public identification with Christ—His death, burial, and resurrection—and an outward confession that the old life has been left behind to follow Him.
Genuine saving faith desires to obey the Saviour. If you have trusted Christ and have not been baptized as a believer, seek a faithful biblical church and obey His command.
How Can You Know You Have Eternal Life?
Assurance does not rest upon the intensity of an emotion, a perfect memory of a prayer, or the claim that you have never struggled again.
Assurance rests first upon Jesus Christ—who He is, what He accomplished, and what He promises to everyone who truly believes in Him.
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
1 John 5:12“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…”
1 John 5:13If you are trusting in Christ, continue looking to Him. The new birth also begins producing evidence over time: growing conviction of sin, love for God and His people, desire for Scripture, obedience to Christ, and perseverance in faith.
Those changes do not purchase salvation. They are fruit of the life God gives. Growth may be uneven, and believers still need repentance, correction, fellowship, and grace.
If you remain confused about the Gospel or fear that you are trusting in a prayer, church membership, or your own works instead of Christ, ask for help. Your eternity is too important for false assurance or unnecessary despair.
Begin Following Jesus Christ
Salvation is the beginning of a new life with God, not the end of the journey. A true disciple continues learning to follow Jesus Christ.
You will face temptation, questions, weakness, and spiritual battles. You do not follow Christ through your own power. God gives His Word, His Spirit, His church, and His grace to help believers grow.
Do Not Gamble With Your Soul
Do not rest in religion, church background, good intentions, feelings, ceremonies, or a prayer you once repeated. Rest in Jesus Christ alone.
He is the Son of God who died for sinners, rose from the dead, and promises eternal life to everyone who truly comes to Him in repentant faith.
Do not wait for a better time. Turn to Jesus Christ today.
