You may have been impressed by its emphasis upon:

• God’s parental heart
• Marriage and family
• Sexual purity
• Faithfulness between husband and wife
• Respect between generations
• Living for the sake of others
• Interracial and international reconciliation
• World peace
• The unity of religions
• Human responsibility
• The restoration of God’s original ideal

You may believe that humanity’s deepest tragedy began when Adam and Eve failed to establish a God-centered family.

You may have been taught that the Fall involved an unlawful sexual relationship between Eve and the archangel, followed by a fallen relationship between Eve and Adam.

You may understand original sin as a corrupted lineage passed through fallen families.

You may believe that God’s plan required a new Adam and a new Eve to become humanity’s True Parents and establish the first sinless family.

You may believe that Jesus came as the Second Adam but was rejected before He could marry, form a true family, and complete physical restoration.

You may therefore regard the crucifixion as a secondary course that provided spiritual salvation but left humanity physically connected to the fallen lineage.

You may believe that Sun Myung Moon and Hak Ja Han fulfilled the positions of True Father and True Mother and established the True Parents whom humanity had awaited.

You may believe that the Marriage Blessing helps couples change lineage, build true families, and participate in God’s restored world.

You may also believe that human beings must fulfill a portion of responsibility and sometimes pass through conditions of indemnity in the process of restoration.

These beliefs raise several essential questions:

Did Adam and Eve fall through a sexual relationship with an angel?

Is original sin primarily a corrupted physical lineage?

Was Jesus sent to marry and establish a biological family?

Was the crucifixion contrary to God’s saving purpose?

Did Jesus provide only spiritual salvation?

Does original sin remain active in genuine believers?

Did Jesus need a bride in order to become a complete Savior?

Did Christ return through Sun Myung Moon rather than returning personally from Heaven?

Can the Marriage Blessing change a person’s spiritual lineage?

Must sinners pay indemnity in addition to trusting Christ’s atonement?

Are Sun Myung Moon and Hak Ja Han humanity’s necessary True Parents—or is Jesus Christ alone sufficient to give new birth and bring us to God?

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”

What Is the Unification Church?

The movement commonly called the Unification Church began through the ministry of Sun Myung Moon in Korea.

It later developed a worldwide network of religious, educational, family, peace, media, cultural, and humanitarian organizations.

The movement is now commonly represented by the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification.

Its central teachings are often called:

The Divine Principle.

The Divine Principle presents an interpretation of:

• God
• Creation
• Adam and Eve
• The human Fall
• Jesus’ mission
• Resurrection
• Restoration
• Human responsibility
• Biblical history
• The Second Coming

Unification teaching commonly emphasizes that God’s original purpose was to establish true individuals, true marriages, true families, and ultimately a peaceful world centered upon divine love.

Human history is interpreted as God’s long providence to restore what was lost through the Fall.

Important Areas of Agreement

Unificationists and biblical Christians may share several serious concerns.

Both may affirm that:

• God created humanity with a good purpose.
• Adam and Eve fell from their intended relationship with God.
• Sin damaged individuals, marriages, families, and society.
• Jesus Christ occupies the central place in God’s work of salvation.
• Sexual immorality is destructive.
• Marriage should be faithful and God-centered.
• Parents should love and guide their children.
• Human beings should live for others rather than selfishly.
• Racial and national hatred should be overcome.
• God desires peace and righteousness throughout the world.
• Religious faith should transform daily life.

The Bible teaches that marriage was established by God:

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
— Genesis 2:24, KJV

It condemns sexual immorality:

“Flee fornication.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:18, KJV

It commands husbands to love their wives:

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”
— Ephesians 5:25, KJV

It commands care for one’s family:

“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith…”
— 1 Timothy 5:8, KJV

It teaches sacrificial service:

“By love serve one another.”
— Galatians 5:13, KJV

Christians should not oppose family faithfulness, sexual purity, reconciliation, service, or peace merely because Unificationists also value them.

The disagreement concerns the foundation upon which true restoration rests.

Who Is God?

Unification teaching often emphasizes God as the Heavenly Parent and the source of both masculine and feminine qualities.

It teaches that creation reflects complementary relationships and that God’s heart longs for loving partnership with humanity.

The Bible also teaches that both male and female bear God’s image:

“So God created man in his own image… male and female created he them.”
— Genesis 1:27, KJV

God created both sexes and perfectly understands every quality expressed through them.

But God is not an incomplete being who needs a human couple in order to become fully expressed or fulfilled.

He is eternally complete.

Before creation existed, God already possessed perfect glory:

“From everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.”
— Psalm 90:2, KJV

Jesus spoke of the glory He shared with the Father:

“The glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
— John 17:5, KJV

God created humanity from love and for His glory—not because His being was incomplete without us.

Did God Need Adam and Eve to Complete His Happiness?

God desired Adam and Eve to know Him, love one another, bear children, and exercise faithful stewardship.

Their obedience would have brought joy to God.

But God’s eternal nature did not depend upon their success.

God is not helpless without human cooperation.

He works through human obedience, but He remains sovereign when human beings rebel.

“But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.”
— Psalm 115:3, KJV

Human sin grieves God.

It does not make Him incomplete or unable to accomplish His final purpose.

What Was God’s Original Purpose for Humanity?

God created humanity:

• In His image
• To know and glorify Him
• To love Him
• To love one another
• To form faithful families
• To exercise stewardship over creation
• To live in holiness and joy

Marriage and family belong within that purpose.

But marriage is not the entire purpose of human existence.

Jesus never married, yet He perfectly fulfilled the Father’s will.

Paul lived unmarried while serving God faithfully.

The Bible recognizes both marriage and celibacy as possible callings.

A person’s spiritual completeness does not depend upon entering marriage.

What Was the Human Fall?

Genesis records that the serpent tempted Eve to distrust God’s Word and eat from the forbidden tree.

Adam also ate knowingly.

The Fall involved:

• Unbelief
• Pride
• Desire for independence from God
• Disobedience
• Rejection of God’s authority

The text says:

“She took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”
— Genesis 3:6, KJV

Genesis does not say that Eve had sexual intercourse with an angel.

Nor does it say that Adam’s sin consisted of a sexually premature relationship with Eve.

Was the Forbidden Fruit Sexual?

Genesis presents the forbidden fruit as something eaten from a particular tree.

Before the Fall, God had already created Adam and Eve as husband and wife and commanded them to be fruitful:

“Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth…”
— Genesis 1:28, KJV

Marital union was therefore not inherently forbidden.

Sexual intimacy within the marriage God established was part of His good creation.

The sin was disobedience to God’s direct command.

Did Eve Have a Sexual Relationship With Lucifer?

The Bible never teaches that Eve physically or spiritually entered a sexual relationship with Satan.

The serpent deceived her through words:

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.”
— Genesis 3:4, KJV

Paul describes the deception:

“The serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty…”
— 2 Corinthians 11:3, KJV

Deception does not require sexual union.

Reading an angelic sexual relationship into Genesis introduces a doctrine the passage never states.

Why Were Adam and Eve Ashamed of Nakedness?

After sinning, Adam and Eve became ashamed and attempted to cover themselves.

This does not prove that their sin was sexual.

The Fall corrupted their entire relationship with:

• God
• Themselves
• One another
• Their bodies
• Creation

They experienced shame because innocence had been lost.

The body became a place of vulnerability in a now-corrupted relationship.

Shame after sin does not identify the specific sin as sexual.

What Is Original Sin?

Original sin refers to humanity’s fallen condition inherited through Adam.

Paul writes:

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin…”
— Romans 5:12, KJV

Humanity inherits:

• A fallen nature
• Mortality
• Separation from God
• A world corrupted by sin

Each person also commits personal sins.

The problem is not primarily that Satan’s physical bloodline entered humanity through an illicit sexual relationship.

It is that Adam, humanity’s representative head, rebelled against God and brought sin and death into the human condition.

Is Sin Transmitted Only Through Physical Reproduction?

No.

Every human being descends physically from fallen humanity, but sin is not a biological substance located in blood or reproductive cells.

Scripture describes sin morally and spiritually.

Jesus said:

“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts…”
— Mark 7:21, KJV

The heart—not merely physical lineage—is corrupted.

Changing one’s marital affiliation or participating in a ceremony cannot by itself regenerate the heart.

Can a Marriage Ceremony Change Spiritual Lineage?

A marriage ceremony may establish a solemn human covenant.

It may symbolize commitment, purity, reconciliation, and shared faith.

But no ceremony can remove original sin.

John teaches that becoming God’s child occurs:

“Not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
— John 1:13, KJV

Spiritual rebirth comes from God through faith in Jesus Christ.

It does not come through physical ancestry or ceremonial transfer into another human lineage.

Who Was Jesus Christ?

Jesus was not merely a perfected man chosen to complete Adam’s unfinished task.

He is the eternal Word:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
— John 1:1, KJV

Everything was created through Him:

“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
— John 1:3, KJV

The Word became human:

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”
— John 1:14, KJV

Jesus is not merely another Adam-like person who attained unity with God.

He is the eternal Creator who entered His creation.

Is Jesus Merely the Second Adam?

The Bible does call Jesus the last Adam:

“The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:45, KJV

This comparison teaches that Jesus succeeds where Adam failed.

Adam brought sin and death.

Jesus brings righteousness and life.

But Jesus is greater than Adam because He is also the eternal Son and Creator.

He did not begin His existence at birth.

Was Jesus Supposed to Marry?

The Bible never says that Jesus was required to take a physical wife.

No Old Testament prophecy states that the Messiah must marry and produce biological children.

Jesus repeatedly explained His mission in other terms.

He came:

• To reveal the Father
• To seek and save the lost
• To call sinners to repentance
• To give His life as a ransom
• To bear sin
• To defeat death
• To establish the New Covenant

Jesus said:

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
— Luke 19:10, KJV

He also said:

“The Son of man came… to give his life a ransom for many.”
— Mark 10:45, KJV

Would Marriage Have Made Jesus More Complete?

No.

Jesus was completely holy, obedient, and fulfilled as the incarnate Son.

He said to the Father:

“I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”
— John 17:4, KJV

A physical wife was not necessary to complete His identity or saving mission.

The fullness of deity already dwelt in Him:

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
— Colossians 2:9, KJV

What Is the Bride of Christ?

The Bible uses marriage imagery to describe the relationship between Christ and His redeemed people.

The Church is called Christ’s bride.

Paul writes:

“I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”
— 2 Corinthians 11:2, KJV

Revelation speaks of:

“The marriage supper of the Lamb.”
— Revelation 19:9, KJV

Jesus’ bride is not one physical woman required to complete His messiahship.

His bride is the redeemed community He purchased with His blood.

Was the Crucifixion God’s Original Saving Plan?

Yes.

Human beings acted wickedly in rejecting and crucifying Jesus.

They remain morally responsible.

Yet the cross was not an emergency plan invented after Jesus failed to marry.

Peter said Jesus was delivered:

“By the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God…”
— Acts 2:23, KJV

The believers prayed that Jesus’ enemies did:

“Whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.”
— Acts 4:28, KJV

The cross fulfilled God’s predetermined saving purpose.

Did God Send Jesus to Die?

Yes.

Jesus said:

“For this cause came I unto this hour.”
— John 12:27, KJV

He also said:

“Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.”
— John 10:17, KJV

Jesus willingly embraced the mission given by the Father.

His death was not forced upon God as a tragic substitute for the mission God actually wanted.

Did Jesus Predict His Death?

Yes.

Jesus repeatedly told His disciples that He would suffer, die, and rise again.

“The Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death… and the third day he shall rise again.”
— Matthew 20:18–19, KJV

When Peter attempted to reject this path, Jesus rebuked him:

“Get thee behind me, Satan…”
— Matthew 16:23, KJV

A theology that treats the cross as a mistaken secondary course resembles the position Jesus rebuked.

Was Jesus’ Death Foretold in Scripture?

Yes.

Isaiah prophesied:

“He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities…”
— Isaiah 53:5, KJV

The prophet continued:

“The LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
— Isaiah 53:6, KJV

Psalm 22 describes suffering that points toward crucifixion.

Daniel foretold that Messiah would be cut off.

The sacrificial system anticipated a final sin-bearing sacrifice.

The cross did not interrupt biblical prophecy.

It fulfilled it.

Why Did Jesus Die?

Jesus died for our sins:

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3, KJV

Peter writes:

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…”
— 1 Peter 2:24, KJV

Jesus’ death was:

• A substitution
• An atonement
• A ransom
• A sacrifice
• A demonstration of God’s love
• The satisfaction of divine justice
• The foundation of the New Covenant

It was not merely the spiritual portion of a salvation that remained physically unfinished.

Did Jesus Accomplish Only Spiritual Salvation?

No.

The complete results of salvation have not yet been manifested in every believer’s body or in the entire creation.

Christians still experience illness, temptation, suffering, aging, and death while awaiting resurrection.

But this does not mean Jesus failed to secure physical redemption.

His resurrection guarantees it.

Paul writes:

“We wait for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”
— Romans 8:23, KJV

The redemption of the body is future in experience but already secured by Christ.

Did the Cross Leave Original Sin Untouched?

No.

Believers continue to struggle against remaining sinful desires, but they are no longer condemned or ruled by sin as before.

Paul writes:

“Our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed…”
— Romans 6:6, KJV

And:

“Sin shall not have dominion over you…”
— Romans 6:14, KJV

Christ’s atonement addresses guilt, condemnation, slavery to sin, and the believer’s final resurrection.

No additional True Parent is required to uproot what Jesus supposedly could not remove.

Did Jesus Say His Work Was Finished?

Yes.

From the cross, Jesus declared:

“It is finished.”
— John 19:30, KJV

This did not mean every prophecy concerning His return and kingdom had already occurred.

It meant that His sacrificial work had been completed.

Hebrews says:

“For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”
— Hebrews 10:14, KJV

One offering accomplished what repeated human effort could never accomplish.

Does Jesus Need Someone to Complete His Atonement?

No.

Hebrews says Jesus:

“By himself purged our sins…”
— Hebrews 1:3, KJV

It also says:

“This man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.”
— Hebrews 10:12, KJV

Christ sat down because the sacrifice was complete.

Sun Myung Moon, Hak Ja Han, a blessed family, or any later religious movement cannot add saving merit to Jesus’ finished atonement.

Did Jesus Bodily Rise From the Dead?

Yes.

Jesus predicted:

“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
— John 2:19, KJV

John explains:

“But he spake of the temple of his body.”
— John 2:21, KJV

After rising, Jesus said:

“Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.”
— Luke 24:39, KJV

His resurrection was not merely spiritual.

The body that was crucified came out of the tomb.

Why Does the Bodily Resurrection Matter?

The resurrection proves that:

• Jesus’ saving mission succeeded.
• His sacrifice was accepted.
• Death was defeated.
• Physical redemption is secured.
• Believers will be bodily raised.
• Jesus is the appointed Judge.
• No later messiah must complete His work.

Paul writes:

“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:20, KJV

The risen body of Jesus is God’s pledge of the believer’s future bodily resurrection.

What Is Resurrection?

The Divine Principle may interpret resurrection primarily as spiritual restoration from death into a higher state of life.

The Bible certainly speaks of spiritual life.

But it also teaches literal bodily resurrection.

Jesus said:

“The hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
And shall come forth…”
— John 5:28–29, KJV

Paul teaches that the mortal body will be raised and transformed.

Resurrection is more than spiritual improvement, renewed influence, or continued existence in the spirit world.

Did Jesus Ascend Bodily?

Yes.

The disciples watched Jesus ascend.

Angels told them:

“This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
— Acts 1:11, KJV

The same Jesus who bodily rose and ascended will personally return.

His return is not fulfilled merely by another Korean man assuming the messianic mission.

Must the Messiah Be Born Again as Another Person?

No.

Jesus remains alive forever.

He does not need a successor to inherit His identity.

Hebrews says:

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
— Hebrews 13:8, KJV

And:

“He ever liveth to make intercession for them.”
— Hebrews 7:25, KJV

The Messiah who returns is the same living Jesus—not a different person born into another family.

Did Jesus Return Through Sun Myung Moon?

No.

Jesus described His return as visible and unmistakable:

“For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
— Matthew 24:27, KJV

Revelation says:

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him…”
— Revelation 1:7, KJV

Sun Myung Moon’s birth, ministry, marriage, and death did not fulfill this description.

The return of Jesus cannot be reduced to another teacher recognizing and assuming an unfinished messianic responsibility.

Did Jesus Warn About Later Messiahs?

Yes.

Jesus said:

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders…”
— Matthew 24:24, KJV

He also warned:

“If any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.”
— Matthew 24:23, KJV

No later leader should be accepted as the returned Messiah merely because he offers a new interpretation of biblical history or a plan for world restoration.

Who Are the True Parents?

Unification teaching says Adam and Eve should have become the True Parents of humanity.

Because they fell, Jesus was sent as the new Adam.

Because Jesus did not marry, the position of physical True Parents remained unfulfilled.

Sun Myung Moon and Hak Ja Han are therefore presented as the man and woman who fulfilled that parental position.

The Bible does not teach that humanity needs a later married couple to complete salvation.

It teaches that believers receive spiritual life through Jesus Christ.

Is Jesus a Spiritual Parent?

Jesus gives life to His people.

Isaiah even calls the coming Messiah:

“The everlasting Father.”
— Isaiah 9:6, KJV

But Scripture never says Jesus can provide only masculine or spiritual rebirth while a later earthly woman must complete feminine or physical rebirth.

Jesus possesses complete authority to give life:

“For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.”
— John 5:21, KJV

Is the Holy Spirit a Feminine Substitute for Jesus’ Wife?

No.

The Holy Spirit is not a symbolic female partner who compensates for Jesus’ failure to marry.

The Holy Spirit is God, eternally divine, personally active in creation, revelation, regeneration, sanctification, and resurrection.

The Spirit gives new birth:

“Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
— John 3:5, KJV

The Spirit’s work does not point toward the eventual need for a human True Mother.

He brings people directly into life through Christ.

Do We Need a True Father and True Mother to Be Born Again?

No.

John says that those who receive Jesus are born:

“Not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
— John 1:13, KJV

Peter writes that believers are born again:

“By the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
— 1 Peter 1:23, KJV

New birth comes from God through the gospel.

It does not require ceremonial connection to another husband-and-wife pair.

Can Sun Myung Moon and Hak Ja Han Mediate Salvation?

No.

The Bible declares:

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Timothy 2:5, KJV

One Mediator means humanity does not need:

• A second messianic couple
• A True Father alongside Jesus
• A True Mother alongside the Holy Spirit
• A ceremonial lineage change
• A later family-based mediator

Jesus alone brings sinners to God.

What Is the Marriage Blessing?

The Marriage Blessing is one of the Unification movement’s most visible practices.

It may involve:

• Commitment to a God-centered marriage
• Sexual faithfulness
• Reconciliation between races and nations
• Connection to the True Parents
• Participation in a restored lineage
• Dedication to building a peaceful world

Some Blessing ceremonies have included very large numbers of couples.

A solemn commitment to marital faithfulness can be good.

Interracial and international reconciliation can be good.

But the ceremony cannot accomplish spiritual regeneration.

Can the Blessing Remove Original Sin?

No.

Only Jesus’ blood cleanses sin:

“The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
— 1 John 1:7, KJV

Paul writes:

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins…”
— Ephesians 1:7, KJV

No marriage ceremony, holy wine, lineage ritual, or declaration from True Parents can add to Christ’s cleansing work.

Can Blessed Children Be Born Without Original Sin?

Every child enters the same fallen human condition and needs Jesus Christ.

Physical descent from Christian parents does not automatically provide salvation.

John writes that spiritual birth is:

“Not of blood… but of God.”
— John 1:13, KJV

Children raised in faithful families receive great advantages of teaching, love, prayer, and example.

But each person must personally receive Christ.

Is the Family the Unit of Salvation?

God cares deeply about families.

He often works through households and commands parents to teach their children.

But salvation remains personal.

No one is saved merely because a spouse, parent, child, or family line participates in a religious covenant.

Paul writes:

“So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”
— Romans 14:12, KJV

A healthy family cannot substitute for individual repentance and faith.

Can an Unmarried Person Be Complete in God?

Yes.

Jesus was unmarried.

Paul served God unmarried.

Paul taught that some people could serve God with particular freedom while single.

Marriage is honorable:

“Marriage is honourable in all…”
— Hebrews 13:4, KJV

But marriage is not necessary for salvation, spiritual maturity, or full human worth.

Jesus—not marital status—makes a believer complete:

“And ye are complete in him…”
— Colossians 2:10, KJV

What Is Indemnity?

Within Unification teaching, restoration through indemnity involves establishing conditions that reverse or restore failures from the past.

Human beings may be called to make sacrifices, demonstrate faithfulness, repeat lost opportunities, or fulfill responsibilities that earlier people failed to complete.

The Bible teaches:

• Repentance
• Restitution
• Discipline
• Perseverance
• Consequences for sin
• Sacrificial obedience

But these must not be confused with payment for guilt before God.

Must We Pay for Our Own Sins?

We may experience earthly consequences and should make restitution where possible.

But we cannot pay the eternal debt of sin through human suffering or religious conditions.

Jesus paid the price:

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold…
But with the precious blood of Christ…”
— 1 Peter 1:18–19, KJV

Redemption rests upon Christ’s blood—not upon our indemnity conditions.

What About Restitution?

Repentance should produce practical change.

Zacchaeus said:

“If I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.”

Restitution is not an attempt to purchase God’s forgiveness.

It is fruit demonstrating genuine repentance.

We should repair harm where possible because we have received mercy—not to complete what Christ failed to pay.

Does Human Responsibility Matter?

Yes.

Human beings must respond to God.

We are commanded to:

• Repent
• Believe
• Obey
• Persevere
• Love God
• Love others
• Reject sin

But our response does not make Christ’s atonement effective by adding missing saving power.

Faith receives God’s gift.

It does not complete an unfinished sacrifice.

Can Good Works Complete Salvation?

No.

The Bible says:

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…”
— Titus 3:5, KJV

And:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
— Ephesians 2:8–9, KJV

Living for others, serving one’s family, promoting peace, and fulfilling responsibilities are good.

They cannot justify a sinner.

Does Grace Eliminate Human Responsibility?

No.

The next verse says:

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…”
— Ephesians 2:10, KJV

The biblical order is:

1. God saves sinners through Christ.
2. Believers receive new spiritual life.
3. They begin obeying and serving from gratitude.

Works are the fruit of salvation.

They are not an additional payment required to complete it.

What Is Restoration?

The Bible teaches restoration.

God will restore His creation under Jesus Christ.

Believers are reconciled to God now and await the resurrection and renewal of all things.

Peter spoke of:

“The times of restitution of all things…”
— Acts 3:21, KJV

But Jesus—not the True Parents movement—is the One who accomplishes that restoration.

God’s plan centers upon Christ’s death, resurrection, return, and reign.

Can True Families Create the Kingdom of God?

Healthy families can strengthen communities.

Faithful marriages can display love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and responsibility.

But no collection of improved families can establish God’s final kingdom by human effort.

Jesus will bring the kingdom in its fullness.

Human hearts must first be regenerated.

Otherwise, even families committed to peace remain vulnerable to:

• Pride
• Control
• Abuse
• Jealousy
• Dishonesty
• Selfish ambition

Is World Peace Possible Without the Gospel?

International cooperation, diplomacy, charitable work, and interfaith dialogue may reduce conflict.

Christians should seek peace:

“Blessed are the peacemakers…”
— Matthew 5:9, KJV

But lasting peace cannot arise while humanity remains unreconciled to God.

Isaiah identifies the Messiah as:

“The Prince of Peace.”
— Isaiah 9:6, KJV

Peace ultimately comes under Jesus’ righteous reign—not through uniting religions around a later parental revelation.

Do All Religions Lead Toward One Providence?

Different religions may contain moral insights and sincere seekers.

Christians should treat their followers respectfully.

But contradictory teachings cannot all reveal the same saving truth.

One religion says Jesus is God.

Another denies His deity.

One says He died for sin.

Another denies the atonement.

One says He bodily rose.

Another interprets resurrection symbolically.

One says He is the only Mediator.

Another requires additional mediators.

Jesus said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
— John 14:6, KJV

Can Later Revelation Correct Christianity?

Churches and theologians can misunderstand Scripture.

Reformation and correction may be needed.

But correction must come through returning to God’s written Word—not through a later revelation that changes the gospel.

Paul warned:

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you… let him be accursed.”
— Galatians 1:8, KJV

No later teacher may redefine the cross as an incomplete failure and still claim continuity with the apostolic gospel.

Is the Divine Principle Equal to Scripture?

No.

The Divine Principle must be tested by the Bible.

The Bible must not be reinterpreted until it agrees with the Divine Principle.

Scripture says:

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God…”
— 2 Timothy 3:16, KJV

Jude describes:

“The faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”
— Jude 3, KJV

The saving faith was delivered through Christ and His apostles.

It did not remain incomplete until the twentieth century.

Did Christianity Lose the Complete Truth?

Churches have often departed from biblical truth.

Some have become corrupt, political, materialistic, abusive, or spiritually dead.

Those failures should be acknowledged.

But Jesus promised:

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
— Matthew 24:35, KJV

Peter wrote:

“But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.”
— 1 Peter 1:25, KJV

The existence of unfaithful churches does not prove that God’s gospel disappeared and required restoration by Sun Myung Moon.

What Is Humanity’s Deepest Problem?

Broken marriages are serious.

Family breakdown is serious.

Sexual immorality is serious.

War, racism, and national hatred are serious.

But humanity’s deepest problem is sin against God.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23, KJV

Sin includes:

• Idolatry
• Pride
• Unbelief
• Sexual immorality
• Greed
• Hatred
• Dishonesty
• Manipulation
• Unforgiveness
• Self-righteousness
• Failure to love God
• Failure to love others

Strong families cannot remove guilt.

Only Jesus can reconcile sinners to God.

Can Someone Have a Strong Family and Still Be Lost?

Yes.

A person may be:

• A faithful spouse
• A responsible parent
• A hard worker
• A generous neighbor
• A peace advocate

while remaining separated from God through unbelief and sin.

Good family conduct is valuable.

It cannot substitute for receiving Jesus Christ.

Can a Broken or Unmarried Person Be Saved?

Yes.

Jesus receives:

• Single people
• Widows
• Widowers
• Divorced people who repent
• People from broken families
• People unable to have children
• People abandoned by spouses

Salvation is not limited to idealized couples or blessed family lineages.

Jesus said:

“Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”
— John 6:37, KJV

Can You Know That You Have Eternal Life?

Yes.

Assurance does not rest upon:

• The Marriage Blessing
• Connection to True Parents
• Indemnity conditions
• A blessed family lineage
• Membership in the Family Federation
• Service to a providential organization

John wrote:

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…”
— 1 John 5:13, KJV

Eternal life rests upon Jesus Christ.

What Must You Do?

1. Test the Divine Principle by Scripture

Do not reinterpret the Bible until it agrees with a later revelation.

“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
— Isaiah 8:20, KJV

2. Accept the Biblical Meaning of the Fall

Adam and Eve rebelled against God’s command.

Do not add an angelic sexual relationship that Genesis never states.

3. Believe That the Cross Was God’s Saving Plan

Jesus was delivered according to God’s determined purpose.

His crucifixion was not an unintended secondary course.

4. Recognize Your Personal Sin

Your deepest problem is not merely fallen lineage or family disorder.

You have personally sinned against God.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23, KJV

5. Stop Trusting in True Parents and the Blessing

No human couple or marriage ceremony can remove sin.

“The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
— 1 John 1:7, KJV

6. Stop Trying to Pay Indemnity for Salvation

Jesus paid the redemptive price completely.

“For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”
— Hebrews 10:14, KJV

7. Repent

Turn from sin, false messianic claims, divided allegiance, self-righteousness, and every teaching that diminishes Christ’s finished work.

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…”
— Acts 3:19, KJV

8. Believe the Gospel

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, KJV

9. Receive Jesus as the Complete Savior

Do not regard Him as a spiritual Savior whose unfinished work required another messiah.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God…”
— John 1:12, KJV

10. Trust Him Completely

Do not trust partly in Jesus and partly in:

• Sun Myung Moon
• Hak Ja Han
• The True Parents
• The Divine Principle
• The Marriage Blessing
• Indemnity conditions
• Your family lineage
• Your human responsibility

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”
— Acts 16:31, KJV

11. Build a Godly Family as the Fruit of Salvation

Those whom Jesus saves should pursue:

• Faithful marriage
• Sexual purity
• Sacrificial love
• Responsible parenting
• Forgiveness
• Service
• Peace
• Truth

But these works follow salvation.

They do not complete Christ’s saving work.

A Prayer From an Honest Heart

Repeating a prayer cannot save you. Jesus Christ saves. But you may express sincere repentance and faith in words such as these:

God who created heaven, earth, marriage, and the human family, I want to know You exactly as You have revealed Yourself. I confess that I have sinned against You and cannot save myself through a Marriage Blessing, connection to True Parents, indemnity conditions, family lineage, moral effort, service, or the Divine Principle. I believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Word and Creator who became man, fulfilled the Father’s will, bore my sins, died according to God’s saving plan, and bodily rose from the dead. I believe His sacrifice is complete and that He alone can give me new birth, forgiveness, righteousness, and eternal life. I renounce every claim that another man or woman must complete His mission or mediate my salvation. I turn from my sins and place my complete trust in Jesus Christ as my only Lord, Savior, righteousness, High Priest, and Mediator. Forgive me, give me a new heart, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and teach me to live in purity, love, faithfulness, humility, service, and obedience. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The saving power is not in repeating these exact words.

The question is whether you have genuinely turned from sin and every competing spiritual authority to the living God through Jesus Christ.

What If the Unification Movement Helped Your Family?

You do not need to deny every positive influence in order to test its central claims honestly.

You may believe it helped you:

• Take marriage seriously
• Remain sexually pure
• Serve other people
• Forgive historical enemies
• Form interracial friendships
• Develop a sense of purpose
• Respect your parents
• Work toward peace
• Build a committed family

Those benefits may be meaningful.

But the decisive question is not merely:

“Did this help me?”

It is:

“Does it tell the truth about the Fall, Jesus Christ, the cross, resurrection, salvation, and the Second Coming?”

What If Your Spouse or Family Is Unificationist?

Continue loving them.

Do not mock:

• Their concern for marriage
• Their commitment to family
• Their sacrifices
• Their hope for world peace
• Their relationships within the movement

Do not become irresponsible, sexually immoral, selfish, or indifferent toward family after claiming to follow biblical Christianity.

Your life should increasingly demonstrate:

• Love
• Humility
• Purity
• Faithfulness
• Patience
• Truthfulness
• Service
• Complete allegiance to Jesus

You may explain gently:

“I still believe marriage, family, purity, service, reconciliation, and peace matter. But I now believe the Bible teaches that Jesus’ crucifixion was God’s intended saving plan, His sacrifice fully addressed sin, His body rose from the grave, and the same Jesus will personally return. I no longer believe another husband-and-wife pair is necessary to complete His mission.”

“Be ready always to give an answer… with meekness and fear.”
— 1 Peter 3:15, KJV

Can a marriage ceremony remove original sin?

Our Purpose

Our purpose is not to insult Unificationists, mock their marriages, deny their peace work, or pretend that everyone carrying a Christian label follows Jesus faithfully.

Many church members also trust in:

• Marriage
• Family heritage
• Religious ceremonies
• Good works
• Human leaders
• Church membership
• A prayer once repeated

rather than Jesus Christ.

Every person must examine the foundation:

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.”
— 2 Corinthians 13:5, KJV

Marriage matters.

Family faithfulness matters.

Sexual purity matters.

Responsible parenting matters.

Living for others matters.

Racial and international reconciliation matter.

World peace matters.

But Genesis does not teach that Eve had a sexual relationship with Lucifer.

Original sin is not merely a physical substance passed through a satanic bloodline.

Jesus did not need a wife in order to become a complete Messiah.

The Church—not one earthly woman—is described as Christ’s bride.

The cross was not an unexpected failure.

Jesus was delivered according to God’s determined plan.

His death fulfilled Scripture.

He bore our guilt.

His atonement was complete.

His bodily resurrection secured the redemption of the body.

Original sin does not remain beyond the reach of Christ’s blood.

The Marriage Blessing cannot change spiritual lineage.

Indemnity conditions cannot add to Jesus’ payment.

A blessed family cannot mediate salvation.

Sun Myung Moon is not the returned Jesus.

Hak Ja Han is not required to complete the work of the Holy Spirit.

There is one Mediator between God and humanity.

Jesus Christ is the eternal Word.

He created all things.

He became truly human.

He perfectly fulfilled the Father’s will.

He willingly died according to God’s saving purpose.

He declared, “It is finished.”

His actual body rose from the grave.

He ascended into Heaven.

He lives forever.

The same Jesus will personally return.

He offers complete forgiveness, new birth, reconciliation, resurrection, and everlasting life.

Do not rest your eternal hope in the Divine Principle, a Marriage Blessing, indemnity conditions, family lineage, or devotion to the True Parents. Come completely to Jesus Christ—the eternal Creator, fulfiller of prophecy, bearer of your sins, complete Mediator, bodily risen Lord, returning King, and only giver of everlasting life.
