For Jehovah’s Witnesses: Who Is Jesus Christ?

Truth has nothing to fear from honest examination.

Thank you for taking the time to read this page.

You may have spent many hours studying Watchtower publications, attending meetings at a Kingdom Hall, participating in field service, and speaking with others about Jehovah and His Kingdom.

You may sincerely believe that you are following the original Christianity taught by Jesus and His apostles.

This page does not ask you to accept the traditions of another religious organization. It asks you to do something simpler and more important:

Open the Bible and examine who Jesus Christ truly is.

Jesus warned that eternal life depends upon knowing Him truthfully:

“If ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”
— John 8:24, KJV

The most important question is not whether you use the name Jehovah, attend meetings, preach from door to door, or belong to the correct organization.

The most important question is:

Have you received the true Jesus Christ revealed in Scripture?

Important Areas of Agreement

We should begin by acknowledging substantial areas of agreement.

Jehovah’s Witnesses generally believe that:

• The Bible is the inspired Word of God.
• There is one true God.
• God created the heavens and the earth.
• Jesus is the promised Messiah and Son of God.
• Jesus was born of the virgin Mary.
• Jesus lived without sin.
• Jesus performed miracles.
• Jesus died as a sacrifice for human sin.
• Jesus was raised from the dead.
• Jesus is presently King and will judge humanity.
• Christians should live morally and preach the good news.
• Salvation is possible only because of Jesus Christ.

These are meaningful truths.

But using the name Jesus does not necessarily mean that two people are speaking about the same Jesus.

The apostle Paul warned that people could preach:

“…another Jesus, whom we have not preached…”
— 2 Corinthians 11:4, KJV

Therefore, we must examine the crucial differences carefully.

What Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Officially Teach About Jesus?

The official website of Jehovah’s Witnesses teaches that:

• Jesus is not Almighty God.
• Jesus was the first being directly created by Jehovah.
• Jehovah then created everything else through Jesus.
• Jesus existed in Heaven as Michael the archangel.
• Michael is another name for Jesus before and after His earthly life.
• Jesus should be honored but not worshipped as God.
• Jesus’ physical body was not raised from the dead.
• He was resurrected as a spirit creature and appeared in temporary physical bodies.

You may examine these teachings in the organization’s own publications:

These teachings raise an unavoidable question:

Does the Bible identify Jesus as a created angel—or as the eternal Creator and Lord?

Was Jesus Created?

Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that Jesus was Jehovah’s first creation.

But the Bible places Jesus on the Creator’s side of the dividing line—not among created beings.

John begins his Gospel:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
— John 1:1, KJV

Notice that when “the beginning” began, the Word already was.

John then says:

“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
— John 1:3, KJV

This statement is comprehensive.

All things that were made were made by Him.

If Jesus Himself were a created being, He would belong within the category of “things made.” Yet John says that without Him not even one created thing came into existence.

John later identifies the Word:

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”
— John 1:14, KJV

The Word who created all things became flesh as Jesus Christ.

Jesus is not the first member of creation.

He is the One through whom creation came into existence.

Does “Firstborn of Every Creature” Mean Jesus Was Created?

Jehovah’s Witnesses frequently use Colossians 1:15, which calls Jesus:

“…the firstborn of every creature.”
— Colossians 1:15, KJV

The word firstborn can refer to birth order, but Scripture also uses it to describe rank, authority, and inheritance.

God said of David:

“Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.”
— Psalm 89:27, KJV

David was not the first son born in his family. He was the youngest.

God made him “firstborn” by giving him the highest royal rank.

Colossians explains what it means when Jesus is called the Firstborn:

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible…”
— Colossians 1:16, KJV

That includes:

“…whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.”
— Colossians 1:16, KJV

Angels, heavenly rulers, powers, and authorities were created by Jesus and for Jesus.

Paul continues:

“And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
— Colossians 1:17, KJV

Jesus is supreme over creation because He created it and sustains it.

He is the Firstborn in rank—not the first creature made.

Why Does the New World Translation Add the Word “Other”?

In Colossians 1:16–17, the New World Translation says that by Jesus “all other things” were created and that He is before “all other things.”

The word other is not present in the Greek text.

Adding it changes the meaning.

Without the added word, Paul says that Jesus created all things.

With the addition, the passage is made to say that Jesus created all things other than Himself, allowing Him to be placed among created beings.

But Scripture does not say that.

It says:

“All things were created by him, and for him.”
— Colossians 1:16, KJV

The phrase “for him” is especially significant.

The entire universe was not created ultimately for an angel.

Everything was created for Jesus Christ.

Is Jesus Michael the Archangel?

Jehovah’s Witnesses officially identify Jesus as Michael the archangel.

But the Bible never says:

“Jesus is Michael.”

It never says:

“Michael became Jesus.”

It never says:

“The Son of God is an archangel.”

Michael appears in Scripture as:

“…one of the chief princes…”
— Daniel 10:13, KJV

Michael is therefore one among other chief angelic princes.

Jesus, however, is unique and supreme over every angel.

Hebrews asks:

“For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee?”
— Hebrews 1:5, KJV

The expected answer is:

None of them.

God never said this to any angel.

The passage continues:

“And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.”
— Hebrews 1:6, KJV

Jesus is not one of the angels being commanded to worship.

Jesus is the One whom all the angels are commanded to worship.

Does an “Archangel’s Voice” Make Jesus an Archangel?

Jehovah’s Witnesses appeal to 1 Thessalonians 4:16:

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God…”
— 1 Thessalonians 4:16, KJV

But the verse also says that He descends “with the trump of God.”

That does not mean Jesus is a trumpet.

Likewise, descending with the voice of the archangel does not identify Him as the archangel.

The passage describes the commanding heavenly announcement accompanying Christ’s return.

It does not say that Christ is Michael.

Michael Would Not Rebuke Satan in His Own Authority

Jude records:

“Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil… durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.”
— Jude 9, KJV

Michael appealed to the Lord’s authority.

Jesus, however, directly rebuked Satan and demons in His own authority:

“Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan…”
— Matthew 4:10, KJV

Jesus also commanded demons:

“Hold thy peace, and come out of him.”
— Mark 1:25, KJV

The demons obeyed Him.

Michael says, “The Lord rebuke thee.”

Jesus speaks as the Lord who rebukes.

The Father Calls the Son “God”

Hebrews contrasts the Son with angels.

Of the angels, God says:

“Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.”
— Hebrews 1:7, KJV

But of the Son, He says:

“But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever…”
— Hebrews 1:8, KJV

The Father addresses the Son as God.

The passage then applies to Jesus words originally spoken of Jehovah:

“And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands.”
— Hebrews 1:10, KJV

Jesus laid the earth’s foundation.

The heavens are the work of His hands.

Angels are created servants.

Jesus is their Creator and Lord.

What Does John 1:1 Actually Say?

The New World Translation renders John 1:1:

“The Word was a god.”

But the King James Version and the overwhelming majority of English translations read:

“And the Word was God.”
— John 1:1, KJV

The absence of the Greek definite article before the word translated “God” does not require the insertion of the word a.

Greek frequently omits the article when describing a person’s nature or quality.

John is not saying that the Word is the same person as the Father. He says the Word was with God.

But John also unmistakably says that the Word possessed the nature of God.

If John intended to call Jesus merely one lesser god among others, he would contradict the Bible’s repeated teaching that there is only one true God.

“Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”
— Isaiah 43:10, KJV

“Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.”
— Isaiah 44:8, KJV

Jehovah says that no other god was formed.

Therefore, Jesus cannot be a secondary created god.

He is the eternal Word who was with God and was God.

Jesus Used the Divine Name “I AM”

Jesus told the religious leaders:

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”
— John 8:58, KJV

Jesus did not merely say, “Before Abraham was, I existed.”

He said, “I am.”

This echoes God’s revelation to Moses:

“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM…”
— Exodus 3:14, KJV

Jesus’ hearers understood the seriousness of His words:

“Then took they up stones to cast at him…”
— John 8:59, KJV

They did not react as though Jesus had merely claimed to be older than Abraham.

They understood that He had claimed a divine identity.

Jesus Shares Jehovah’s Unique Glory

Jehovah says:

“I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another…”
— Isaiah 42:8, KJV

Yet Jesus prayed:

“And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
— John 17:5, KJV

Jesus shared the Father’s glory before the world existed.

If Jesus were a created angel, this would contradict Jehovah’s declaration that He does not give His unique divine glory to another.

But there is no contradiction when Jesus is understood as the eternal Word who shares the divine nature.

Jesus Is Worshipped

Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that Jesus should be honored but not worshipped as Almighty God.

Yet Scripture repeatedly records people worshipping Jesus without correction.

After Jesus walked upon the water:

“Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.”
— Matthew 14:33, KJV

After His resurrection:

“And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.”
— Matthew 28:9, KJV

Thomas said to the risen Christ:

“My Lord and my God.”
— John 20:28, KJV

Jesus did not correct Thomas.

Instead, He commended those who would believe the same testimony:

“Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
— John 20:29, KJV

When Cornelius bowed before Peter, Peter immediately refused:

“Stand up; I myself also am a man.”
— Acts 10:26, KJV

When John bowed before an angel, the angel refused:

“See thou do it not… worship God.”
— Revelation 22:9, KJV

Jesus never responded that way.

He received worship because worship rightly belongs to Him.

Every Creature Worships the Father and the Son

Revelation presents a scene of universal worship:

“And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea… heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”
— Revelation 5:13, KJV

Notice the categories:

• Every creature in Heaven
• Every creature on Earth
• Every creature under the Earth
• Every creature in the sea

Every created being worships the One on the throne and the Lamb.

If Jesus were a creature, He would belong among those giving worship.

Instead, He receives universal worship alongside the One seated upon the throne.

Jesus Must Receive the Same Honor as the Father

Jesus said:

“That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father.”
— John 5:23, KJV

He continued:

“He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.”
— John 5:23, KJV

Jesus did not say to honor Him merely as the greatest angel.

He commanded all people to honor the Son even as they honor the Father.

Refusing Jesus the honor due to God does not honor Jehovah.

According to Jesus, it dishonors the Father who sent Him.

Did Jesus Rise Bodily From the Dead?

Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that Jesus was not raised in the physical body that was crucified. They teach that He was resurrected as a spirit creature and temporarily materialized bodies in order to appear to His followers.

But Jesus explicitly predicted the resurrection of His body.

After cleansing the temple, He said:

“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
— John 2:19, KJV

John explains:

“But he spake of the temple of his body.”
— John 2:21, KJV

What would be raised?

The temple of His body.

Jesus did not say that His body would remain dead while an invisible spirit creature replaced Him.

He said that the body destroyed would be raised.

The Risen Jesus Said He Was Not a Spirit

When Jesus appeared to His disciples after the resurrection, they initially thought they had seen a spirit.

Jesus corrected them:

“Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.”
— Luke 24:39, KJV

Jesus could hardly have spoken more plainly.

He said:

• It is I Myself.
• Look at My hands and feet.
• Touch Me.
• A spirit does not have flesh and bones.
• I have flesh and bones.

He then ate food in their presence:

“And he took it, and did eat before them.”
— Luke 24:43, KJV

This was not Jesus disguising Himself in a temporary body while allowing His disciples to form a false belief.

He was proving that He had risen bodily.

Thomas Touched the Crucifixion Wounds

Thomas said he would not believe unless he saw the nail wounds and touched Jesus’ side.

Jesus later appeared and said:

“Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side…”
— John 20:27, KJV

The risen body bore the wounds of crucifixion.

Thomas responded:

“My Lord and my God.”
— John 20:28, KJV

The bodily resurrection confirmed both Jesus’ identity and the truth of His victory over death.

What Does “Made Alive by the Spirit” Mean?

Jehovah’s Witnesses commonly appeal to 1 Peter 3:18:

“Being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.”
— 1 Peter 3:18, KJV

This verse does not say that Jesus was raised as a spirit creature.

It says that He was made alive by the Spirit.

Romans similarly says:

“He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
— Romans 8:11, KJV

The Holy Spirit raises mortal bodies.

Being raised by the Spirit does not mean being changed into an angel.

Jesus’ resurrection body was glorified and no longer subject to death, but it remained the body that had been crucified.

Is the Holy Spirit Merely an Impersonal Force?

Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that the Holy Spirit is God’s impersonal active force rather than a personal divine presence.

But Scripture describes the Holy Spirit performing personal actions.

The Holy Spirit speaks:

“The Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.”
— Acts 13:2, KJV

The Holy Spirit teaches:

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost… he shall teach you all things…”
— John 14:26, KJV

The Holy Spirit guides:

“When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth…”
— John 16:13, KJV

The Holy Spirit hears and speaks:

“For he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak…”
— John 16:13, KJV

The Holy Spirit intercedes:

“The Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
— Romans 8:26, KJV

The Holy Spirit may be grieved:

“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God…”
— Ephesians 4:30, KJV

An impersonal force does not call missionaries, teach, guide, hear, speak, intercede, exercise will, or experience grief.

The Holy Spirit is not merely divine electricity or power.

He is God personally present and active among His people.

Lying to the Holy Spirit Is Lying to God

When Ananias lied concerning the sale of property, Peter said:

“Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost…?”
— Acts 5:3, KJV

Peter then explained:

“Thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.”
— Acts 5:4, KJV

Lying to the Holy Ghost was lying to God.

The Holy Spirit is neither an angel nor an impersonal force.

He is divine.

Must Christians Belong to One Human Organization to Be Saved?

Jehovah’s Witnesses are taught that the Governing Body constitutes the “faithful and discreet slave” appointed to provide spiritual food and direction to God’s people.

The official organization places great importance upon unity with its teachings and direction.

But salvation is not found in a governing body, publishing organization, denomination, or institutional membership.

Jesus said:

“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved…”
— John 10:9, KJV

Peter proclaimed:

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
— Acts 4:12, KJV

The name is not Watchtower.

The name is not Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The name is not Baptist, Pentecostal, Catholic, Methodist, or any other religious label.

The saving name is Jesus Christ.

Every teacher and organization must be tested by Scripture.

“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
— Isaiah 8:20, KJV

The Bereans tested even the apostle Paul’s preaching:

“They received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
— Acts 17:11, KJV

No governing body has authority to forbid you from testing its teachings by the plain words of Scripture.

Who Is the Faithful and Wise Servant?

In Matthew 24, Jesus tells a parable about a faithful and wise servant who cares for the master’s household while awaiting his return.

The passage does not name a future religious corporation or small governing committee.

Its warning applies to everyone entrusted with responsibility:

“Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.”
— Matthew 24:46, KJV

The same servant could become unfaithful:

“But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming…”
— Matthew 24:48, KJV

The point is faithful readiness—not the establishment of an unquestionable modern authority.

Christ alone is the Head of His Church:

“And he is the head of the body, the church…”
— Colossians 1:18, KJV

Will Only 144,000 Believers Go to Heaven?

Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that exactly 144,000 people receive heavenly life and rule with Christ, while the great majority of faithful Witnesses expect everlasting life upon a restored Earth.

Revelation 7 describes the 144,000 as:

• Sealed from the tribes of Israel
• Twelve thousand from each named tribe
• Distinguished from a great multitude that no one could number

If the number 144,000 must be interpreted literally, consistency would suggest that the description of twelve thousand from each tribe of Israel should also be interpreted literally.

But Jehovah’s Witnesses interpret the number literally while interpreting the tribes symbolically.

More importantly, the New Testament presents a heavenly hope to believers generally.

Jesus told His disciples:

“In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.”
— John 14:2, KJV

Paul wrote to ordinary believers:

“For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
— Philippians 3:20, KJV

Peter wrote to believers:

“To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.”
— 1 Peter 1:4, KJV

All believers belong to one body and share one hope:

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.”
— Ephesians 4:4, KJV

The New Testament does not divide Christians into two spiritual classes—one with Christ as mediator and a heavenly inheritance, and another with a separate earthly hope.

Every person who belongs to Christ is a child and heir of God:

“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ…”
— Romans 8:17, KJV

Is Jesus the Mediator Only for the 144,000?

The Bible says:

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Timothy 2:5, KJV

It does not say that Jesus mediates only for a limited heavenly class.

He is the one Mediator between God and men.

Jesus said:

“Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”
— John 6:37, KJV

Every sinner may come directly to God through Jesus Christ.

No earthly organization or special class must stand between you and Him.

Can Religious Works Earn God’s Approval?

Jehovah’s Witnesses are known for considerable religious activity, including meeting attendance, study, field service, and literature distribution.

Good works and sharing biblical truth are important.

But no amount of religious service can erase sin or earn eternal life.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
— Ephesians 2:8–9, KJV

Paul had once been exceedingly zealous in religion.

After meeting Christ, he counted his former religious achievements as loss:

“And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ…”
— Philippians 3:9, KJV

Your hours of service cannot become your righteousness.

Your meeting attendance cannot become your righteousness.

Your moral discipline cannot become your righteousness.

Your loyalty to an organization cannot become your righteousness.

Jesus Christ must become your righteousness.

Does True Faith Produce Works?

Yes.

The Bible does not teach a dead faith that merely agrees with facts while refusing to obey Jesus.

“Faith without works is dead.”
— James 2:26, KJV

But Scripture preserves the proper order:

We are not saved by works. We are saved by grace through faith, and then we are created in Christ to do good works.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…”
— Ephesians 2:10, KJV

Works are evidence of living faith.

They are not payment for salvation.

Does Acts 15 Prohibit Blood Transfusions?

Jehovah’s Witnesses interpret the command to “abstain from blood” as prohibiting transfusions of whole blood and its primary components.

Acts 15 says:

“That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication…”
— Acts 15:29, KJV

The context concerns Gentile believers and practices connected with food, pagan worship, and the consumption of blood.

Throughout Scripture, abstaining from blood meant refusing to eat animal blood because blood represented life.

“But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.”
— Genesis 9:4, KJV

A medical transfusion is not the eating of blood as food.

It is the transfer of blood into the circulatory system in an attempt to preserve life.

Jesus repeatedly taught that mercy and the preservation of life reveal the purpose of God’s law.

“I will have mercy, and not sacrifice…”
— Matthew 12:7, KJV

He also said:

“The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.”
— Mark 2:27, KJV

A command concerning the consumption of blood should not be extended beyond its biblical meaning in a way that requires a person to reject potentially lifesaving medical care.

Medical decisions should be made carefully with qualified physicians and an informed conscience—not through fear of organizational discipline.

Did Jesus Begin Ruling in 1914?

Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that Jesus invisibly began ruling as King in Heaven in 1914 and that the last days began at that time.

The calculation is built by combining:

• Nebuchadnezzar’s seven times in Daniel 4
• A symbolic day-for-a-year interpretation
• A total of 2,520 years
• A proposed date for Jerusalem’s destruction

But Daniel 4 directly identifies the subject of the prophecy:

“All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.”
— Daniel 4:28, KJV

The seven times were fulfilled when Nebuchadnezzar was humbled and later restored.

The chapter never says that its seven times should be converted into 2,520 years ending in 1914.

Moreover, Jesus possessed royal authority long before 1914.

After His resurrection, He said:

“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
— Matthew 28:18, KJV

Peter proclaimed at Pentecost:

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus… both Lord and Christ.”
— Acts 2:36, KJV

Paul wrote in the first century that Christ:

“…must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:25, KJV

Jesus did not need to wait until 1914 to become Lord and begin reigning.

Have Watchtower Interpretations Changed?

Every Christian can misunderstand Scripture and later need correction.

But when an organization claims unique appointment as God’s channel, repeated doctrinal changes deserve careful examination.

Scripture says:

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent…”
— Numbers 23:19, KJV

And:

“For I am the LORD, I change not…”
— Malachi 3:6, KJV

Human teachers may change because they were previously mistaken.

Therefore, your faith must never rest upon the claim that an organization uniquely speaks for God.

It must rest upon the inspired Scriptures and the unchanging Lord Jesus Christ.

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
— Hebrews 13:8, KJV

Using the Name Jehovah Cannot Replace Knowing Jesus

The divine name represented by the Hebrew letters YHWH appears throughout the Old Testament.

It is right to honor God’s revealed name.

But Jesus warned religious people who believed they knew God:

“Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.”
— John 8:19, KJV

He also said:

“He that hath seen me hath seen the Father…”
— John 14:9, KJV

You cannot honor the Father while denying the Son’s true identity.

John wrote:

“Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father…”
— 1 John 2:23, KJV

The question is not merely whether you pronounce a particular divine name.

The question is whether you know and honor God as He has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Is Jehovah Revealed in the New Testament

Old Testament passages about Jehovah are repeatedly applied to Jesus in the New Testament.

Prepare the Way of Jehovah

Isaiah prophesied:

“Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”
— Isaiah 40:3, KJV

Matthew says this was fulfilled by John the Baptist preparing the way for Jesus:

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord…”
— Matthew 3:3, KJV

Call Upon Jehovah to Be Saved

Joel said:

“Whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered.”
— Joel 2:32, KJV

Paul applies this passage to calling upon Jesus:

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
— Romans 10:13, KJV

The surrounding verses identify the Lord being confessed and called upon as Jesus Christ.

Jehovah Was Pierced

Jehovah said through Zechariah:

“They shall look upon me whom they have pierced…”
— Zechariah 12:10, KJV

John applies this prophecy to Jesus:

“They shall look on him whom they pierced.”
— John 19:37, KJV

The New Testament does not present Jesus as a lesser rival god.

It reveals the one true God coming to save His people through His eternal Word made flesh.

What Must You Do?

1. Ask Whether You Have Received the Biblical Jesus

Have you trusted a Jesus who is merely Michael the archangel, a created spirit being, and a secondary god?

Or have you received the eternal Word, Creator, Lord, and Savior revealed in Scripture?

Jesus warned:

“If ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”
— John 8:24, KJV

2. Stop Trusting in Religious Performance

Your preaching hours, meeting attendance, moral conduct, and loyalty to an organization cannot remove one sin.

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…”
— Titus 3:5, KJV

3. Acknowledge Your Sin

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23, KJV

You cannot make yourself righteous enough to stand before a perfectly holy God.

4. Repent

Turn from sin, self-righteousness, false teaching, and every loyalty that competes with Jesus Christ.

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…”
— Acts 3:19, KJV

5. Believe the Gospel

Jesus truly died in the body for your sins, was buried, and bodily rose from the dead.

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, KJV

6. Confess Jesus Christ as Lord

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
— Romans 10:9, KJV

7. Place Your Complete Trust in Him

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”
— Acts 16:31, KJV

Salvation is not membership in an earthly organization.

Salvation is found in Jesus Christ.

A Prayer From an Honest Heart

Repeating a prayer cannot save you. Jesus Christ saves. But you may express sincere repentance and faith in words such as these:

God, I want to know You as You truly are. I confess that I am a sinner and cannot save myself through religious works or organizational loyalty. I believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Lord and Creator who came in the flesh, died for my sins, and bodily rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and from every false belief about Him. I place my complete trust in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Forgive me, give me a new heart, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and teach me to follow Your Word whatever it costs. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The power is not in repeating these exact words.

The question is whether you have genuinely turned to the true Jesus Christ in repentance and faith.

What If You Fear Losing Your Family and Friends?

Questioning Watchtower teaching may bring real fear.

You may worry about losing:

• Your family relationships
• Your closest friendships
• Your congregation community
• Your reputation
• The structure that has shaped your life

Jesus understands the cost of following truth.

He said:

“He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me…”
— Matthew 10:37, KJV

That does not mean you should become hostile toward your family or treat Jehovah’s Witnesses with contempt.

Continue loving them.

Speak respectfully.

Do not return rejection with bitterness.

But no human relationship or organization can be placed above Jesus Christ.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
— Mark 8:36, KJV

Do not base your eternal destiny merely upon this page.

Read the Bible without allowing a Watchtower publication to tell you in advance what every passage must mean.

Read several reliable translations side by side.

Begin with:

• Revelation 1 and 5
• Romans 3–10
• Philippians 2–3

As you read, ask:

Does the Bible ever directly identify Jesus as Michael?

Does it describe Jesus as the Creator of all things or as one of the things created?

Why does the Father call the Son “God”?

Why are all the angels commanded to worship Jesus?

Why did Jesus say that a spirit does not have flesh and bones as He had after His resurrection?

Why did Thomas call Jesus “My Lord and my God”?

Is salvation found in an organization—or in Jesus Christ?

Our Purpose

Our purpose is not to insult Jehovah’s Witnesses or pretend that everyone outside the organization automatically knows the true gospel.

Many people in traditional Christian churches also trust in religious membership, good works, baptism, family identity, or a prayer repeated without genuine repentance and faith.

Every person must examine the foundation.

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.”
— 2 Corinthians 13:5, KJV

Our purpose is to help every person make sure they are going to Heaven by comparing every belief with the Holy Bible.

Jesus Christ is not Michael the archangel.

He is not the first creature Jehovah made.

He is not merely “a god.”

He is the eternal Word.

He is the Creator of all things.

He is Lord over every angel.

He received worship.

He truly died in the flesh.

He bodily rose from the grave.

He is the only Mediator between God and humanity.

He is able to save completely everyone who comes to God through Him.

“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him…”
— Hebrews 7:25, KJV

“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
— 1 John 5:11–12, KJV

Do not merely learn about Jesus through an organization. Come directly to Jesus Christ, receive Him as He truly is, trust Him completely, and follow Him according to His Word.
