Church of Christ

identifies the one organization that Jesus purchased with His blood.

You may have been taught that people must enter that Church in order to receive:

• Forgiveness of sins
• Redemption through Christ’s blood
• Membership among God’s chosen people
• The right to hope for salvation on Judgment Day

You may believe that remaining faithful requires:

• Obeying biblical commandments
• Attending worship services
• Participating in church activities
• Giving offerings
• Sharing the faith
• Submitting to the Church Administration
• Maintaining membership until death or Christ’s return

You may reject the Trinity because you believe it contradicts the Bible’s teaching that the Father alone is the one true God.

You may believe that Jesus:

• Is the Son of God
• Was miraculously conceived
• Was sinless
• Was sent by God
• Died for the Church
• Was raised from the dead
• Was exalted by God
• Will return to judge humanity

But you may firmly reject the belief that Jesus is God.

Did the Church Jesus established disappear from the earth for many centuries?

Did biblical prophecy identify Felix Manalo as God’s final messenger?

Does the expression “Church of Christ” function as an exclusive organizational name?

Does Acts 20:28 teach that only members of one modern organization were purchased by Jesus’ blood?

Does a person enter Christ by joining an institution—or enter His Church through faith and new birth?

Must salvation be mediated through the Church Administration?

Is Jesus merely a human being appointed by God—or the eternal Word and Creator who became flesh?

Does distinction between Jesus and the Father prove that Jesus is not divine?

Does the Bible teach one God revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost?

Can a person know he has eternal life through Christ—or only hope that future faithfulness will make him worthy?

What Is Iglesia Ni Cristo?

Iglesia Ni Cristo means:

Church of Christ.

The movement began in the Philippines through the preaching of Felix Y. Manalo.

It was officially registered with the Philippine government in 1914.

Iglesia Ni Cristo teaches that it is not merely one Christian denomination among many.

It presents itself as the true Church belonging to Christ in these last days.

The Church has expanded internationally and is known for:

• Distinctive houses of worship
• Organized evangelistic activity
• Centralized administration
• Strong congregational unity
• Regular worship attendance
• Humanitarian and charitable projects
• A significant presence among Filipino communities worldwide

Its members commonly refer to it simply as:

the Church

or:

INC.

Important Areas of Agreement

Iglesia Ni Cristo members and biblical Christians may share many important convictions.

Both may affirm that:

• There is one true God.
• The Holy Bible is authoritative.
• Jesus is the promised Messiah and Son of God.
• Jesus lived without sin.
• Jesus died for human salvation.
• Jesus bodily rose from the dead.
• Jesus ascended into Heaven.
• Jesus will return.
• There will be a final judgment.
• Sin must be rejected.
• Religious hypocrisy is dangerous.
• Christians should worship, obey God, and serve others.
• Faith should produce moral transformation.

The Bible teaches one God:

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.”
— Deuteronomy 6:4, KJV

It teaches Jesus’ sinlessness:

“Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.”
— 1 Peter 2:22, KJV

It teaches His bodily resurrection:

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.”

It commands Christian fellowship:

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…”

It commands obedience:

These are meaningful areas of agreement.

The differences concern the identity of Jesus, the nature of God, the history and boundaries of Christ’s Church, the claimed role of Felix Manalo, and the basis of salvation.

Is There Only One True Church?

Yes—but we must define that Church biblically.

Jesus has one spiritual body.

Paul writes:

“There is one body, and one Spirit…”
— Ephesians 4:4, KJV

He also says:

“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:27, KJV

The true Church is not a collection of unrelated religions.

It consists of everyone genuinely united with Jesus Christ by the Holy Ghost.

But the existence of one spiritual body does not prove that one twentieth-century registered institution alone contains every redeemed person.

Is the Church Primarily an Organization or a People?

The New Testament word commonly translated church refers to an assembly or congregation.

It can describe:

• A local congregation
• Several congregations in a region
• The entire body of believers belonging to Christ

The Church has organization, leaders, discipline, teaching, worship, and ordinances.

But the organization serves the redeemed people.

The institution itself does not create spiritual life.

Jesus creates His Church by saving sinners and adding them to His people.

How Does Someone Enter the Body of Christ?

Paul writes:

“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body…”
— 1 Corinthians 12:13, KJV

The Holy Ghost unites believers with Christ.

Those who receive Jesus are born of God:

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
— John 1:12, KJV

Spiritual entrance into Christ’s body occurs through God’s regenerating work received by faith.

A congregation may recognize, baptize, teach, and receive the believer.

But paperwork, registration, or institutional enrollment cannot produce new birth.

Did Jesus Name His Church “Church of Christ”?

The New Testament uses several descriptions for believers and congregations.

These include:

• The church of God
• The churches of Christ
• The body of Christ
• The household of God
• The saints
• The flock
• The bride of Christ
• The temple of God

Paul writes:

“The churches of Christ salute you.”
— Romans 16:16, KJV

This is a truthful biblical description.

But the verse does not establish one mandatory institutional title that every saved congregation must register under.

It describes churches belonging to Christ.

Does a Biblical Name Prove a Church Is the True Church?

No.

An organization may use a biblical name while teaching error.

Another congregation may use a descriptive name based upon:

• Its location
• A biblical doctrine
• A mission
• A historical circumstance

while faithfully preaching Christ.

Jesus warned that merely using His name does not prove faithfulness:

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven…”
— Matthew 7:21, KJV

Doctrine, gospel, spiritual fruit, and allegiance to the true Jesus matter more than an organizational label.

What Does Acts 20:28 Say?

Paul instructed elders:

“Feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”
— Acts 20:28, KJV

Some translations or textual traditions render the wording in a form translated as “church of Christ.”

Regardless of the translation question, the passage teaches that the Church belongs to God and was purchased through Christ’s blood.

It does not identify a Philippine organization registered in 1914.

Paul was speaking to elders of an existing first-century congregation.

Does Acts 20:28 Prove That God Has Blood?

The verse is deeply important because it joins God’s identity with the blood through which the Church was purchased.

God in His divine nature is spirit and does not possess physical blood.

But the eternal Son became human and shed real blood.

Therefore, Christians can truthfully speak of God purchasing the Church through the blood of the incarnate Son.

This passage supports the profound identity of Jesus rather than reducing Him to an unrelated human agent.

Was the First-Century Church Completely Lost?

No.

Church institutions experienced severe corruption.

False teachers arose, political power entered churches, traditions multiplied, and many people carrying Christian names acted wickedly.

The New Testament itself predicted apostasy.

But apostasy does not mean every true believer and congregation disappeared from the earth.

Jesus promised:

“I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
— Matthew 16:18, KJV

He also promised:

“Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”
— Matthew 28:20, KJV

A theory requiring Christ’s Church to vanish completely for many centuries conflicts with these assurances.

Can a Church Become Corrupt Without Christ’s Entire Church Disappearing?

Yes.

Revelation addressed local churches containing serious error.

Some needed repentance.

Some tolerated immorality.

Some had become spiritually cold.

Yet Jesus continued preserving faithful people.

Even in corrupt periods, God can sustain believers who trust Christ and obey Scripture.

The existence of apostasy does not prove a complete historical vacuum requiring one man to reestablish Christianity in 1914.

Who Was Felix Y. Manalo?

Felix Y. Manalo was a Filipino religious preacher whose ministry became foundational to Iglesia Ni Cristo.

INC teaching regards him as God’s messenger in these last days.

Particular prophecies are interpreted as referring to:

• His location in the East
• The Philippines
• The timing of his mission
• The restoration of the Church
• The gathering of God’s people from distant lands

We should examine those prophetic claims by their original biblical context rather than assume that a later application is correct.

Does Isaiah Prophesy Felix Manalo?

Passages in Isaiah concerning the east, distant lands, or a bird of prey are sometimes applied to Felix Manalo and the Philippines.

But Isaiah’s prophecies must first be interpreted within:

• Israel’s historical situation
• God’s judgment upon nations
• The return from exile
• The role of specifically identified rulers
• The coming Messiah

For example, Isaiah explicitly names Cyrus as the ruler from the east whom God would use:

“Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus…”
— Isaiah 45:1, KJV

A prophecy that identifies Cyrus should not be reassigned to Felix Manalo merely because both can be connected broadly with the word east.

What About the “Ends of the Earth”?

The phrase ends of the earth commonly refers to distant geographical regions or the whole extent of the earth.

It does not naturally mean:

the final years immediately before the end of the world.

Context must determine whether a passage concerns:

• Geographical distance
• Worldwide witness
• Israel’s dispersion
• The Messiah’s reign
• Final events

Converting a geographical expression into a precise modern date requires evidence that the biblical text itself provides.

Does Revelation’s Angel From the East Refer to Felix Manalo?

Revelation 7 describes an angel ascending from the east and holding the seal of the living God.

The vision occurs within apocalyptic imagery involving angels, judgments, winds, and sealed servants.

The text calls the figure:

an angel.

It does not name Felix Manalo, the Philippines, or a twentieth-century church registration.

A symbolic interpretation must still arise from the passage rather than being imposed because of similarities selected afterward.

Can a Modern Messenger Be Necessary to Understand Salvation?

God gives teachers, evangelists, and pastors to help the Church.

Faithful teachers are valuable.

But the gospel was already fully proclaimed in the first century.

Paul said:

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, KJV

Jude writes of:

“The faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”
— Jude 3, KJV

The saving message did not remain unavailable until a final messenger appeared in the Philippines.

Did Jesus Personally Exist Before His Birth?

Yes.

John writes:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
— John 1:1, KJV

The Word already existed in the beginning.

The Word was personally:

• With God
• God

Then:

“The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”
— John 1:14, KJV

The Person did not begin to exist when He became human.

The eternal Word entered human nature.

Is Jesus Merely a Man?

Jesus is truly human.

The Bible calls Him a man:

“The man Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Timothy 2:5, KJV

He possessed:

• A real human body
• A human mind
• Human emotions
• The ability to suffer
• The ability to die

But the conclusion:

“Jesus is man; therefore, Jesus cannot also be divine”

does not follow.

The Christian claim is that the eternal Son became truly human without ceasing to be divine.

Did Jesus Create Everything?

Yes.

John says:

“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
— John 1:3, KJV

Paul says of Christ:

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible…”
— Colossians 1:16, KJV

He continues:

“And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
— Colossians 1:17, KJV

A man who began existing in Mary’s womb could not have created everything that came into existence.

Could These Verses Mean Only That Jesus Created the Church?

Christ creates and sustains the new covenant community.

But the passages use comprehensive creation language:

• All things
• Heaven and earth
• Visible and invisible
• Thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers

John deliberately echoes Genesis:

“In the beginning.”

He is describing the creation of the world, not merely the later organization of the Church.

Did Jesus Come Down From Heaven?

Yes.

Jesus said:

“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.”
— John 6:38, KJV

He also said:

“What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?”
— John 6:62, KJV

Jesus did not merely say that His authority or message originated in Heaven.

He said He came down and would ascend to where He had been before.

Did Jesus Share Glory With the Father Before Creation?

Yes.

Jesus prayed:

“O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
— John 17:5, KJV

This was not merely glory planned for a future man.

Jesus spoke of glory:

• That He had
• With the Father
• Before the world existed

This is personal preexistence.

Is Jesus Called God?

Yes.

John says:

“The Word was God.”
— John 1:1, KJV

Thomas addressed the risen Jesus:

“My Lord and my God.”
— John 20:28, KJV

The Father says to the Son:

“Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever…”
— Hebrews 1:8, KJV

Titus speaks of:

“The glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”
— Titus 2:13, KJV

These passages must be permitted to speak alongside verses distinguishing Jesus from the Father.

Does Jesus’ Distinction From the Father Prove He Is Not God?

No.

Biblical Christianity does not teach that Jesus is the Father.

The Father sends the Son.

The Son prays to the Father.

The Father loves the Son.

The Son obeys the Father within His incarnate mission.

These distinctions are real.

But distinction between Persons does not prove difference of divine nature.

Jesus can be distinct from the Father while sharing the one divine identity.

Does John 17:3 Prove Only the Father Is God?

Jesus called the Father:

“The only true God.”
— John 17:3, KJV

Christians fully affirm that the Father is the only true God, in contrast with false gods.

But the same Gospel also teaches:

• The Word was God.
• The Word created everything.
• Jesus existed before Abraham.
• Jesus shared glory with the Father before creation.
• Thomas called Jesus “My Lord and my God.”

John 17:3 must not be used to cancel the rest of John’s testimony.

The Father and Son are distinguished without dividing the one true God.

What Did Jesus Mean by “Before Abraham Was, I Am”?

Jesus said:

“Before Abraham was, I am.”
— John 8:58, KJV

He did not say:

“Before Abraham existed, I was merely foreknown.”

He contrasted Abraham’s coming into existence with His own continuing existence.

His hearers attempted to stone Him because they recognized the seriousness of His claim.

Did Jesus Receive Worship?

Yes.

After He walked upon the water:

“They that were in the ship came and worshipped him…”
— Matthew 14:33, KJV

After His resurrection:

“They came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.”
— Matthew 28:9, KJV

When John attempted to worship an angel, the angel refused:

“See thou do it not… worship God.”
— Revelation 22:9, KJV

Jesus receives the worship that faithful creatures reject.

Is Calling Jesus “Lord” Enough Without Recognizing His Deity?

The word lord can sometimes refer to a human master or ruler.

But the New Testament applies to Jesus Old Testament passages concerning the LORD.

Paul writes:

“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
— Romans 10:13, KJV

This quotation comes from Joel’s declaration concerning calling upon the name of the LORD.

Paul places Jesus within that divine saving identity.

Is the Trinity Three Gods?

No.

Biblical Christianity teaches:

• There is one God.
• The Father is God.
• The Son is God.
• The Holy Ghost is God.
• The Father is not the Son.
• The Son is not the Holy Ghost.
• The Holy Ghost is not the Father.

This is not the claim that three Gods exist.

It is the claim that the one divine Being exists eternally as three distinguishable Persons.

The mystery is profound, but the doctrine arises from holding together all that Scripture reveals.

Was the Trinity Invented After the Bible?

The word Trinity developed as a summary term.

But the New Testament already places Father, Son, and Holy Ghost together.

Jesus commanded baptism:

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
— Matthew 28:19, KJV

Paul writes:

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.”
— 2 Corinthians 13:14, KJV

The theological term came later.

The biblical pattern did not.

Is the Holy Ghost a Person?

Yes.

The Holy Ghost:

• Speaks
• Teaches
• Guides
• Chooses
• Commands
• Intercedes
• Can be grieved

Jesus said:

“The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost… he shall teach you all things…”
— John 14:26, KJV

Acts records:

“The Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.”
— Acts 13:2, KJV

Impersonal power does not speak of itself as “me” and “I.”

Is the Holy Ghost God?

Yes.

Peter told Ananias:

“Why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost… thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.”
— Acts 5:3–4, KJV

Lying to the Holy Ghost is lying to God.

The Spirit is personally distinct while sharing the one divine identity.

Why Did Jesus Need to Die?

Jesus died because humanity’s deepest problem is sin.

Scripture says:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23, KJV

Sin includes:

• Idolatry
• Pride
• Dishonesty
• Greed
• Hatred
• Sexual immorality
• Religious self-righteousness
• Failure to love God
• Failure to love others

Church membership cannot erase guilt.

Religious obedience cannot undo past sin.

A sinless substitute was required.

Whose Sins Did Jesus Bear?

Jesus bore the sins of His people:

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…”
— 1 Peter 2:24, KJV

Isaiah prophesied:

“The LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
— Isaiah 53:6, KJV

Christ’s blood purchases and cleanses believers.

But the Bible does not teach that the blood’s benefits are administered exclusively through enrollment in one later institution.

They are received through faith in Christ.

How Does the Blood of Jesus Cleanse Us?

John writes:

“The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
— 1 John 1:7, KJV

Paul writes:

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins…”
— Ephesians 1:7, KJV

Notice where redemption is located:

in Christ.

Forgiveness is not said to be located in registration under a particular church administration.

The Church consists of those who have been redeemed by Christ.

They are not redeemed because an institution first makes them members.

Must a Person Join the Church to Be Saved?

Every saved person becomes part of Christ’s Church.

No one is saved into permanent isolation from His body.

A believer should:

• Be baptized
• Join with faithful Christians
• Receive biblical teaching
• Worship
• Serve
• Submit to godly discipline

But the order matters.

The Bible does not say:

“Join the correct organization so that Christ may then save you.”

It teaches:

“Believe in Christ, receive new life, and you are added to His people.”

What Happened at Pentecost?

After people received the apostolic message, they were baptized and added to the fellowship.

Acts says:

“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized…”
— Acts 2:41, KJV

Later:

“The Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
— Acts 2:47, KJV

The Lord added saved people to the Church.

The institution did not create salvation by adding names to its records.

Was the Ethiopian Official Saved Through an Organization?

Philip preached Jesus to an Ethiopian official.

The man believed and requested baptism.

Afterward:

“He went on his way rejoicing.”
— Acts 8:39, KJV

The text does not describe a lengthy process of proving loyalty to an exclusive administration before Christ could receive him.

His faith was directed toward Jesus Christ.

What About Cornelius?

Peter preached Jesus to Cornelius and his household.

While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Ghost came upon those who heard.

They then received water baptism.

God demonstrated that He accepted them through faith before they could become enrolled members of a later institutional body.

Peter concluded:

“Whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”
— Acts 10:43, KJV

Does “Whosoever Believeth” Really Mean Anyone?

Yes.

Jesus said:

“Whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
— John 3:16, KJV

Paul said:

“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
— Romans 10:13, KJV

The invitation crosses:

• National boundaries
• Racial boundaries
• Social boundaries
• Organizational boundaries

The decisive question is whether someone has come to the true Jesus in repentance and faith.

Is Faith Alone Enough?

The phrase faith alone can be misunderstood.

Saving faith is not mere intellectual agreement.

It includes:

• Trust in Jesus
• Repentance
• Receiving Him as Lord
• A willingness to follow Him

Living faith produces obedience.

But obedience is the fruit and evidence of salvation—not additional payment added to Jesus’ blood.

Paul writes:

“Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”
— Romans 3:28, KJV

Does James Contradict Salvation by Faith?

No.

James condemns a dead profession that produces no changed life.

He writes:

“Faith without works is dead.”
— James 2:26, KJV

Paul explains how sinners are justified before God.

James explains what genuine faith looks like.

Works reveal living faith.

They do not become an alternate basis of justification.

Can Worship Attendance Help Merit Salvation?

Christians should gather faithfully.

Worship, teaching, fellowship, prayer, and the Lord’s Supper are essential to healthy discipleship.

But attendance cannot purchase forgiveness.

A person may attend every service while remaining:

• Proud
• Unforgiving
• Self-righteous
• Deceptive
• Unconverted

Religious activity cannot replace new birth.

Can Offerings Help Make Someone Worthy of Salvation?

Giving is a biblical act of worship and generosity.

Believers should support ministry and help people in need.

But money cannot purchase righteousness.

Peter told Simon:

“Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.”
— Acts 8:20, KJV

God’s grace is a gift.

Offerings should flow from gratitude, not fear that salvation depends upon financial performance.

Must Christians Obey Church Leaders?

Believers should respect and submit to faithful leaders.

Hebrews says:

“Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves…”
— Hebrews 13:17, KJV

But leadership authority is not unlimited.

Leaders must remain under Christ and Scripture.

The apostles said:

“We ought to obey God rather than men.”
— Acts 5:29, KJV

No church administration should receive unquestionable authority over biblical interpretation, conscience, family, politics, or salvation.

Should Members Test Their Leaders’ Teaching?

Yes.

The Bereans examined even Paul’s preaching:

“They searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
— Acts 17:11, KJV

John commands:

“Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God…”
— 1 John 4:1, KJV

Respectful examination is not rebellion against God.

God’s Word stands above every human leader.

Can Unity Become Unhealthy Conformity?

Christian unity is precious.

Jesus prayed for His people to be one.

But biblical unity is unity in truth.

It must not require:

• Silencing sincere biblical questions
• Protecting error
• Following leaders against conscience
• Confusing organizational loyalty with loyalty to Christ
• Treating disagreement as automatic rebellion

Paul resisted Peter publicly when Peter’s conduct compromised the gospel.

Truthful correction can protect genuine unity.

Can Someone Lose Salvation by Leaving One Organization?

A person who abandons Jesus and rejects the gospel is in grave spiritual danger.

Leaving faithful Christian fellowship carelessly can also be dangerous.

But withdrawal from one human organization is not automatically withdrawal from Christ.

An organization may itself teach error or demand allegiance that belongs to Jesus.

Our names are written in Heaven through relationship with Christ—not maintained there by inclusion in one institution’s membership records.

Can Believers Know They Have Eternal Life?

Yes.

John writes:

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…”
— 1 John 5:13, KJV

Assurance does not mean careless living.

It means resting in:

• Christ’s completed sacrifice
• God’s promise
• The Holy Ghost’s witness

A believer need not remain in constant fear that one missed requirement will remove him from Christ.

Can Jesus Keep His People?

Yes.

Jesus said:

“I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
— John 10:28, KJV

Paul writes:

“He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
— Philippians 1:6, KJV

True believers persevere because God preserves, corrects, strengthens, and completes His work within them.

Does Grace Eliminate Obedience?

No.

Paul asked:

“Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid.”
— Romans 6:1–2, KJV

Those whom Jesus saves should:

• Attend Christian fellowship
• Worship God
• Give generously
• Reject sexual immorality
• Speak truth
• Care for family
• Serve others
• Share the gospel
• Obey Christ

But they obey because they have been saved—not to complete an insufficient salvation.

What Is the New Birth?

Jesus said:

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
— John 3:3, KJV

New birth is more than:

• Joining Iglesia Ni Cristo
• Completing doctrinal instruction
• Receiving baptism
• Attending worship
• Submitting to church administration
• Adopting a disciplined lifestyle

It is the supernatural work of the Holy Ghost giving life to someone spiritually dead in sin.

“That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
— John 3:6, KJV

Does Baptism Save?

Jesus commanded baptism.

Everyone who truly receives Christ should be baptized.

Baptism publicly identifies the believer with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

But water does not possess saving power apart from faith.

Peter writes:

“Baptism doth also now save us—not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God—by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
— 1 Peter 3:21, KJV

Its saving meaning rests upon faith and Christ’s resurrection—not institutional administration of the ceremony.

What About the Criminal Beside Jesus?

The repentant criminal could not join an organization, complete formal instruction, attend services, give offerings, or receive water baptism.

Yet he turned to Jesus and said:

“Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.”
— Luke 23:42, KJV

Jesus answered:

“To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
— Luke 23:43, KJV

Jesus possesses direct authority to save.

Who Is the One Mediator?

Paul writes:

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Timothy 2:5, KJV

The Church proclaims Jesus.

Pastors teach about Jesus.

Evangelists invite people to Jesus.

But no messenger, executive minister, administration, priesthood, or institution stands as an additional mediator through whom Christ’s saving power must pass.

Jesus alone brings sinners to God.

Did Jesus Bodily Rise From the Dead?

Yes.

Iglesia Ni Cristo and biblical Christians agree that Jesus rose.

Jesus said:

“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
— John 2:19, KJV

John explains:

“But he spake of the temple of his body.”
— John 2:21, KJV

After rising, Jesus said:

“Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see…”
— Luke 24:39, KJV

The crucified body came out of the grave.

Did God Raise Jesus, or Did Jesus Raise Himself?

Scripture teaches that the Father raised Jesus.

It also records Jesus declaring authority to raise Himself:

“I lay down my life, that I might take it again… I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.”
— John 10:17–18, KJV

A merely human messenger does not possess authority over his own death and resurrection.

Jesus’ words reveal His divine power.

Why Does the Resurrection Matter?

The resurrection proves that:

• Jesus is the promised Messiah.
• His sacrifice was accepted.
• Death has been defeated.
• He possesses authority to judge.
• He can give eternal life.
• His claims about His divine identity are trustworthy.

We should not affirm that Jesus rose while rejecting what He and His apostles taught about who He is.

What If Iglesia Ni Cristo Helped You?

You do not need to deny every positive influence in order to examine its exclusive claims honestly.

You may believe the Church helped you:

• Become morally disciplined
• Avoid destructive behavior
• Take worship seriously
• Develop strong friendships
• Help people in need
• Strengthen your family
• Study Scripture
• Think seriously about judgment
• Become committed to evangelism

Those benefits may be real.

But the decisive question is not merely:

“Did this organization help me?”

It is:

“Does it tell the full biblical truth about Jesus Christ, the true Church, the Holy Ghost, prophecy, and salvation?”

What If Other Churches Are Corrupt?

Many churches have serious failures.

Some teach false doctrine.

Some tolerate sexual immorality.

Some manipulate people financially.

Some are divided by pride and politics.

Some use the Trinity as a formula while barely teaching Scripture.

Those failures should be confronted.

But the existence of false churches does not prove that Iglesia Ni Cristo alone is true.

Every organization—including INC—must be tested by Scripture.

What Must You Do?

1. Place Scripture Above Every Administration

Respect leaders where they teach truth, but test every doctrine by God’s Word.

“We ought to obey God rather than men.”
— Acts 5:29, KJV

2. Examine the Prophecies About Felix Manalo in Context

Do not assume that references to the east, angels, or the ends of the earth identify one modern preacher.

Read the complete chapters and identify their original subjects.

3. Recognize the Eternal Identity of Jesus

Receive everything Scripture says about Him:

“The Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
— John 1:1, KJV

4. Recognize Your Personal Sin

Your deepest problem is not merely membership outside the correct organization.

You have personally sinned against God.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23, KJV

5. Stop Trusting in Organizational Membership

Membership records, worship attendance, offerings, church activities, and obedience to leaders cannot erase guilt.

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…”
— Titus 3:5, KJV

6. Repent

Turn from sin, self-righteousness, fear of human authority, and every doctrine that diminishes Jesus.

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…”
— Acts 3:19, KJV

7. Believe the Gospel

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, KJV

8. Receive Jesus as Lord and God

Respond as Thomas did before the risen Christ:

“My Lord and my God.”
— John 20:28, KJV

9. Trust Jesus Completely

Do not trust partly in Jesus and partly in:

• Iglesia Ni Cristo membership
• Felix Manalo
• The Church Administration
• Worship attendance
• Offerings
• Evangelistic activity
• Your ability to remain worthy

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”
— Acts 16:31, KJV

10. Join With Faithful Believers

Coming directly to Jesus does not mean abandoning Christian fellowship.

Seek a congregation that:

• Teaches the whole Bible
• Confesses the biblical Jesus
• Proclaims salvation by grace
• Practices accountable leadership
• Encourages sincere questions
• Produces holiness, humility, and love

11. Obey Jesus as the Fruit of Salvation

Worship, serve, give, evangelize, and pursue holiness because Jesus has saved you—not to add merit to His blood.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
— John 14:15, KJV

A Prayer From an Honest Heart

Repeating a prayer cannot save you. Jesus Christ saves. But you may express sincere repentance and faith in words such as these:

God who created heaven and earth, I want to know You exactly as You have revealed Yourself. I confess that I have sinned against You and cannot save myself through church membership, worship attendance, offerings, evangelistic work, submission to an administration, or my ability to remain worthy. I believe that Jesus Christ is not merely a human messenger but the eternal Word who was with You, was God, created all things, came down from Heaven, and became truly human. I believe He bore my sins, died in my place, and bodily rose from the dead. I renounce every confidence that competes with Him and every teaching that makes a human organization necessary as an additional mediator of salvation. I turn from my sins and place my complete trust in Jesus Christ as my Lord, my God, my righteousness, my High Priest, and my only Savior. Forgive me, give me a new heart, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and lead me into faithful Christian fellowship where I can worship, grow, serve, and obey You in truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The saving power is not in repeating these exact words.

The question is whether you have genuinely turned from sin, organizational confidence, and every competing allegiance to the living God through Jesus Christ.

What If Your Family Is Iglesia Ni Cristo?

Continue loving and respecting them.

Do not mock:

• Their discipline
• Their worship
• Their friendships
• Their moral convictions
• Their charitable service
• Their concern for salvation

Do not become careless about church attendance, holiness, giving, service, or evangelism after rejecting exclusive organizational claims.

Your life should increasingly demonstrate:

• Humility
• Love
• Truthfulness
• Patience
• Faithful Bible study
• Christian fellowship
• Complete confidence in Jesus

You may explain gently:

“I remain grateful for the seriousness with which Iglesia Ni Cristo taught worship, discipline, family responsibility, and judgment. But I now believe the Bible teaches that Jesus is the eternal Word and Creator, that His Church never completely disappeared, and that salvation is received directly through repentance and faith in Him rather than through membership in one twentieth-century organization.”

“Be ready always to give an answer… with meekness and fear.”
— 1 Peter 3:15, KJV

Are people added to the Church because the Lord saves them—or saved because an organization enrolls them?

Did Jesus exist before His birth?

Did Jesus create all things?

Why is Jesus called God and worshipped?

Is there one Mediator—or must salvation pass through an administration?

Can believers know they possess eternal life?

Our Purpose

Our purpose is not to insult Iglesia Ni Cristo members, disrespect Filipino people, dismiss charitable work, or pretend that everyone carrying a Trinitarian Christian label truly follows Jesus.

Many church members also trust in:

• A denominational name
• Church membership
• A pastor
• A religious tradition
• Baptism
• Good works
• Worship attendance
• A prayer once repeated

rather than Jesus Christ.

Every person must examine the foundation:

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.”
— 2 Corinthians 13:5, KJV

There is one true God.

There is one true gospel.

There is one spiritual body of Christ.

Worship matters.

Obedience matters.

Christian fellowship matters.

Evangelism matters.

Giving and service matter.

Religious traditions must be tested.

But the one true Church is not proved merely by possessing the words “Church of Christ” in its name.

The Church is the people whom Jesus has redeemed and united with Himself.

Acts 20:28 does not identify a Philippine organization registered in 1914.

Prophecies about Cyrus, angels, the east, and distant lands should not be removed from their context and reassigned to Felix Manalo.

Jesus did not promise that His Church would disappear for centuries.

He promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against it.

No modern messenger is needed to complete the apostolic gospel.

No executive minister is an additional mediator.

No administration has authority equal to Scripture.

Membership records cannot produce new birth.

Worship attendance cannot erase guilt.

Offerings cannot purchase grace.

Evangelistic work cannot make someone worthy.

Human obedience cannot add saving merit to Christ’s blood.

Jesus Christ is not merely a human messenger.

He is the eternal Word.

He was with God.

He was God.

He created all things.

He came down from Heaven.

He shared glory with the Father before the world existed.

He became truly human.

He lived without sin.

He bore our guilt.

He died in our place.

His actual body rose from the grave.

He receives worship.

He gives eternal life.

He is the one Mediator.

Everyone who truly repents and believes in Him is forgiven, born of God, and added to His people.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”

“Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.”

Do not rest your eternal hope in Iglesia Ni Cristo membership, Felix Manalo, the Church Administration, worship attendance, offerings, evangelistic activity, or your ability to remain worthy. Come completely to Jesus Christ—the eternal Word, Creator of all things, God revealed in flesh, bearer of your sins, bodily risen Lord, one Mediator, and only giver of everlasting life.
